You've got to start somewhere...

Hello world!

In about two months from now, my husband and I will be moving out of our apartment and temporarily moving into my in-laws place. Then, we will be traveling the states to visit friends and family one last time before we cross the pond and start our careers together.

Come August 2012, I will start my first placement as an elementary school counselor (he will be teaching grade six). To make it even more awesome, we will be doing this in Saudi Arabia!

I have recently been gathering inspiration from various school counseling blogs-inspiration as a school counselor, and inspiration to start a blog of my own. Since, clearly, there are already several school counseling blogs, my intention is to make this more specific to the international school counselor.

So get out your passports and join me on this fantastic international journey!

  2. I so appreciate your posts, and the posts of other international school counseling blogs that I've found. My big question is, what is the best route to finding an international school counseling job? I graduated with my Master's in Mental Health Counseling last May (so 1.5 years of internships), worked as a psych counselor for a summer at an academic summer camp called Duke TiP, went back for my Post-Master's Certificate in School Counseling (another semester of internship), and am now filling in as the Interim School Counselor at an elementary school. Oh, I will also be returning to Duke TiP this summer. Collectively, about 2.5 years of experience, with three short term school counseling jobs. Before that, I have over ten years of work experience with children and adolescents. My dream job, or dream life, is to be abroad. I would love to be immersed in another culture. I've looked into the ISS website, but am unsure because of the price tag. Suggestions, advice, etc.? You are welcome to contact me at bethannac@me.com, or leave something for me to contact you.

    Thanks again!
